We all try to steal some time from our daily lives, looking for a little rest and relaxation. What could be better then, than some high-level relaxation in a hotel by the sea? We are introducing to you the “HorizonBlu”, a five-star hotel complex in Kalamata, with 38 rooms of various types (double, double with pool, suites etc.), an all-day cocktailbar, restaurant, swimming pool, fitness center and of course, a new proposal: the spa.
We were lucky enough to find ourselves at the hotel and enjoy both the accomodation and the staffs’ great services.
After a busy and stressful Thursday at work, we thought it was important to find a way to rest, until one of us said the magic word. Spa! That idea enticed everyone and right on the next moment we were looking for massage places in Kalamata.
This search led us to the HorizonBlu hotel, where we found out that for some time now, there is a high standards spa service. Without having second thoughts, we called and booked an appointment for the afternoon of the next day.
It was Friday then, and it was time for our appointment. Going down the Navarinou street , we arrived at the hotel where, from the first minutes we felt like home, as the environment was remarkably friendly and familiar.

Irini, who was in the reception welcomed us, showing us the way to the spa. Roula, the spa manager, was waiting for us there, along with her partner, Dimitra, willing to help us choose the proper treatment to relax.
How many options… Relaxing body massage, massage with aromatic pouches of herbs from the mount Taygetos, facial rejuvenation, reflexology … Eventually, we preferred a combined program which included peeling, body and facial massage and pedicure.
Entering in the rooms, we were impressed by an impeccable aesthetic, and by the fact that many of the recipes used come from their own inspirations, based on natural products. (Honey, almond oil, salt, lavender from the courtyard etc.), And many of their products were from the Greek series “Olive” and from the French company “AnneSemonin”.
The sensation was unique and our whole experience kept us incredibly calm. Indeed, after two hours of excellent care, we did not want to do anything else but to extend our small vacation. This escape had worked refreshingly and we wanted to last as much as possible. So we decided to give ourselves one more gift, that would give a different perspective to our weekend. A night in HorizonBlu!
We had luck on our side and we found available rooms, which exceeded all expectations. Modern and comfortable, there were offering a sensation of warmth and discreet luxury.
Then we went down to the pool where we enjoyed unique and original cocktails, made by Elias, one of the kindest barmen we have ever met. After a refreshing creme brulee that he proposed to us, and a swim in the pool, the sun started its going down and the sky of the Messinian Gulf got dressed in the most beautiful shades of blue and red. The sea view was magnificent and it was time to close our night with a nice dinner in the hotel restaurant.
The menu, based on local products, satisfied all tastes. Taking the menu in our hands we had to choose amongst different types of flavors. A Lamb called “kleftiko”, roasted with gruyere cheese and herbs from Taygetos and a “kritharoto” with prawns, tomatoes, courgettes and lime, were some of our options.
Eventually, on our table came a plate of delicious pappardelle with simmered beef cheeks and burgers calf BlackAngus, served with grilled vegetables and potatoes. And of course, the starters and salads were not missing, with an admittedly controversial “summer salad” with watermelon, feta and pesto, to impress despite our initial reluctance. The staff’s excellent service and the various varieties of red wine, always at the right temperature, such as “Ftelia” and “Enigma” confirmed once again the high level of the hotel services.
The next day, after a very nice sleep and a good continental breakfast we left the hotel, carrying with us the best impressions. The quality, the excellent hospitality and the relaxing atmosphere are the elements that characterize the HorizonBlu hotel and make it an ideal choice for visitors inside and outside Kalamata, during the whole year.
